Netflix Hits ‘Play’ on Hiring: First Jobs Posted for $1 Billion Fort Monmouth Studio

EATONTOWN/OCEANPORT, N.J. — The transformation of historic Fort Monmouth into a major East Coast production hub has officially entered its next phase.

Streaming giant Netflix has posted its first job openings for the massive studio complex, marking a significant milestone for the ambitious $1 billion project.

The initial postings are for two high-level leadership positions critical to launching the facility. Netflix is seeking a director of studio operations and a manager of studio site and services to oversee the development and day-to-day management of the nearly 300-acre campus.

The roles command substantial salaries. The director position pays up to $790,000 per year, while the manager role lists a maximum salary of $320,000.

“These first few jobs at Netflix Studios Fort Monmouth are a small but meaningful step in our commitment to New Jersey’s production renaissance,” said Anne Kelly, Netflix’s vice president of studio management and services.

The company began demolition on the site in May 2025 after purchasing the property in December 2025 for $55 million.

A Monumental Project Takes Shape

The Netflix studio complex is poised to become a cornerstone of New Jersey’s growing film industry.

Plans for the 292-acre property include 12 soundstages totaling nearly 500,000 square feet, along with production offices, a cafeteria, retail space, a theater and a hotel.

The project is expected to generate an estimated 3,500 construction jobs and 1,500 permanent production jobs in Monmouth County.

Local municipalities have already secured significant financial agreements. Oceanport approved a Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) agreement expected to generate nearly $65 million over 30 years. Eatontown received an immediate $47 million payment and will see additional annual revenue under its agreement.

The project remains in its early stages. Demolition began in May 2025, with the first phase of soundstages potentially opening in 2027. Netflix expects full completion of all 12 stages by 2028.

Already Rolling in the Garden State

Beyond the future studio complex, Netflix’s commitment to New Jersey is already evident.

At a January 2026 ceremony marking the property purchase, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said the company was actively filming two movies in the state, employing more than 500 people.

Productions including Happy Gilmore 2 and Here Comes the Flood, starring Denzel Washington, have recently filmed in New Jersey.

The state’s film tax credit program — which offers incentives of up to 40% for qualified production expenses — has played a major role in attracting Netflix and other studios.

Sarandos has emphasized the importance of those incentives. In testimony before a U.S. Senate committee, he said Netflix moved seven productions originally slated for the United Kingdom to New Jersey because of the state’s tax credit program.
