Bergen County Cyber Crimes Arrest: New Milford Man Charged With First-Degree Child Sexual Abuse

NEW MILFORDThe Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office arrested a 28-year-old New Milford man on first-degree child endangerment charges after a months-long task force investigation revealed he engaged in explicit online communications with a juvenile.

Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force Raid

Detectives from the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of Markos C. Alpar on February 20. The raid concluded an operation directed by Chief Jeff Angermeyer.

Investigators seized digital evidence showing Alpar used the internet to view, download and possess media depicting nude and sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children. County detectives verified that Alpar engaged in direct online sexual communications with a juvenile victim between December 2024 and January 2025.

During those monitored chat sessions Alpar exposed his genitalia to the minor and instructed the juvenile to produce and transmit photographs and videos of the child's intimate parts.

Alpar was remanded to the Bergen County Jail immediately following his arrest. He remains in custody pending a detention hearing at the Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.

He faces charges including: First-degree production of child pornography, Third-degree possession of child pornography, Third-degree obscenity to a minor, Third-degree impairing or debauching the morals of a child, and Lewdness.

Jurisdictional Execution and Assisting Agencies

The primary investigation was coordinated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office with direct assistance from the New Milford Police Department and the Oak Ridge Police Department in Tennessee.

Operational logistics and the execution of the warrant involved the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force. Participating municipal and county agencies included the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, Hackensack Police Department, Hasbrouck Heights Police Department, Norwood Police Department, Waldwick Police Department and Washington Township Police Department.

Prosecutor Mark Musella reminded the public that "the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt."
